The heritage center has an excellent display of artifacts from the various Native American cultures in the region. I was impressed with how many child-friendly exhibits there are. It is clearly a place that cares about its younger visitors. The helpful staff gave us many tips about visiting the area's ancient ruins and the maps they provide are essential for... More

We enjoyed our brief visit to this small museum with modern, interactive exhibits on Anasazi history and a nice bookstore. At the time of our visit, there was also a photography exhibit of cave paintings. Recommend for all ages.

The Anasazi Heritage Center—located in Dolores, Colorado, just outside of Cortez—is a picturesque building sitting atop a beautiful green hill. Inside the center you’ll find enough artwork, artifacts, and exhibits to keep you busy for a good day or two. Outside the center you’ll find remains of ancient pueblos, as well as a paved, half-mile, switchback trail that runs up... More

The name Anasazi remains in use here. We were very glad we stopped and we could have stayed even longer had we looked and read everything. The museum is just outside of Dolores which is just a few miles away from Mesa Verde National Park. Our park pass gave us free entry. There were two films shown frequently in the... More

This is a great little museum which has much to offer. It has: friendly and helpful staff, two excellent videos, highly educational (and interesting and easily comprehensible) exhibits on the history of the Anasazi, and fascinating interactive exhibits on aspects of archaeology -- e.g., how tree-ring dating actually works and what you can tell about bits of pottery from looking... This place was a gem. We fully expected to pay an entrance and were delighted to find that we were covered with our national parks pass. Having spent the last couple of days living and breathing the ruins of both Hovenweep and Mesa Verde, this museum was exceptional to help everyone to really imagine what life was actually like. There... More

After driving for hours, we arrived at the Anaszi Heritage Center and enjoyed looking at the exhibits in the visitor center. We did not stay at the motel attached to it but did buy some souvenirs. Some of our friends took the optional bus ride into the area to see some of the rock formations up close. They said they... More

This review does NOT refer to the Anasazi Heritage Center; it apparently refers to Monument Valley in Utah. The photo by wacotx146 (currently our page's main photo) does not show the Anasazi Heritage Center or anywhere near it. More
