We hiked the trail to hanging lake at around 11 in the morning. It was not busy but I can imagine that it would be tough later in the season with more tourists. The parking lot was 2/3's full when we got there. It was easy to pass folks while hiking and getting to the top was just great. Hiking... More

This is a very beautiful hike with a wide variety of scenery from Glenwood Canyon and the Colorado River at the trailhead to the mossy banks of the cascading Dead Horse Creek along the trail to scenic overlooks of the canyon to the bright blue water of the lake at the top. The trail is steep and rocky but not... More

To me, this is the most wonderful and beautiful hike in the state. It is not very long, but well worth taking a picnic lunch and spending most of the day. The waterfalls and scenery at the top are well worth the hike. Seems a bit difficult on the way up, but much easier on the way down. Try to... More

Loved the people but the improved trail was still difficult for seniors and kids. Very naturally preserved but harder than I thought to climb

This trail goes straight up, take some water. Well worth the climb as the views and the lake are beautiful.

Rocky and steep but the stream along the trail made it a beautiful hike. There were several places along the way to catch your breath.

Only access is from eastbound i70 and then to westbound i70, no access if you are traveling westbound and want to stop. You have to go to glenwood the turn around.

If you plan to hike to Hanging Lake during the summer I suggest you reach the parking lot by 7:00 AM at the latest. The restrooms will be open (none available at the lake) and there will be plenty of parking available. The temperature in the canyon will also be cool. But don't let the temperature fool you. Dress for... More

My family hiked this trail last weekend with friends. My 9 yr old son loved it! We took our time, paced ourselves and had a blast! There is so much nature to take in as you hike to the falls, don't miss it on your way up! It is a steep hike, but footing is good and the path well... More
