Have been to Mesa Verde, so, wanted to see this spot. Small, touristy, but, if you are interested in a 1-2 hour stop to learn, go there! Then, head over to the Garden of the Gods Park-eat there, fabulous cafe. Beautiful park. more

I found the price high, but we certainly are not experienced mountain drivers in snow (being from south Texas!) so we did not want to attempt the drive ourselves. Turned out that we couldn't have driven it anyway as the road was closed due to weather. We made the trip on May 8th. Nice warm weather at the bottom, freezing... more

Sept. 13, 2008 Loved the CogRailway. See my full review on this under Pikes Peak Cog Railway. It is something everyone should do at least once. Book reservation in advance. I did three months before. Morning trips are best. Manitou Springs is also a lovely little town. Eat at The Loop Mexican Restaurant and The Mason Jar. Definitely go see... more

Great experience. We were a party of four and were on the 3-seat side, 2 seats each facing each other. Perfect for all of the things to see. We say marmot and big horn sheep and were on the 10:40 train. Take bottled water with you. We left ours in the car, not knowing you could bring your own. We... more

Went on the 9:20 train. Perfect weather. Didn't see much wildlife other than marmot. We sat on the 3 seat side, facing downhill on the second car, front row-so we were in the first car, front row going down. Great seats-we had the only panramic view on the train. Time at the top was about 35 mintues which was plenty.... more

I'll agree with the other reviews, its a nice relaxing time and worth the trip but a little pricey. Here are my tips: 1. If you want to save some cash ($30 per person) and have a driver who isn't afraid of heights you can drive the trip. Keep in mind it is 14,000 feet so if the driver isn't... more

The Cog Railway was definitely the highlight of our trip. I agree with other reviews that it is a little pricey ($30/adult), the seats are a bit uncomfortable and crowded, but if you go in the summer with the windows down the fresh air and gorgeous views completely make up for it. Pros: We saw bighorned sheep, several herds of... more

after driving to the summit several times over the years, we decided to take the cog "for something different". The trip up was interesting - scenery nice. Only allowed 30-40 min. at summit house (not enough time to use facility, take pics, shop & eat). Summit was extremely crowded (probably because we chose the week of July 4th!!). The trip... more

The railway is well run and punctual. Cute, antique station. Bring jackets, cars are unheated. Trip is about an hour up, 40 minutes on peak, then hour down, so good for a half day trip. Reservations are encouraged, check website for train times. the nearby town, Manitou Springs is interesting and could take up a few hours as well. more

Excellent, safe, and informative. Our second time to travel the Cog Railway to the top of Pikes Peak. Excellent for families. Just remember to bring some water to sip on the way up. The water helps restore oxygen in your system and helps prevent possible altitude sickness for those not use to 14,000 feet. more
