Went on the 9:20 train. Perfect weather. Didn't see much wildlife other than marmot. We sat on the 3 seat side, facing downhill on the second car, front row-so we were in the first car, front row going down. Great seats-we had the only panramic view on the train. The railway is well run and punctual. Cute, antique station. Bring jackets, cars are unheated. Trip is about an hour up, 40 minutes on peak, then hour down, so good for a half day trip. Reservations are encouraged, check website for train times. the nearby town, Manitou Springs is interesting and could take up a few hours as well. more

Excellent, safe, and informative. Our second time to travel the Cog Railway to the top of Pikes Peak. Excellent for families. Just remember to bring some water to sip on the way up. The water helps restore oxygen in your system and helps prevent possible altitude sickness for those not use to 14,000 feet. more
