This was by far the most unique and memorable attraction on our trip to colorado. You get to ride a cog train all the way up to the top of Pike's Peak at 14,110 ft. The trip up took about an hour and 20 minutes. Our guide pointed out all of the unique rock formations and sites on the way... more

September 13, 2008 we rode The Cog Railway to the top of Pikes Peak. Made our reservation for the 9:20 trip @ $30.50 each about three months before. When I went to get the tickets they said we had the TWO side...I knew the THREE side was better. I asked them to try again. This time the three side came... more

This is the ONLY way to go mountain climbing. Forget hiking or driving up twisty turny mountain roads with no guardrails. Take the train to the top and sit back and enjoy the view! But, listen to the reviews. Bring a warm coat and ONLY sit on the 3 passenger side, not the 2 passenger side. Since the seats are... more

Rode the Cog up Pikes Peak and found it to be an awesome experience. We definitely did not want to drive up! Scenery beautiful. When we reached the top it was foggy and they where shutting down the road up so anyone who had driven up had to be escorted back down.....so glad we did not have to deal with... more

If you don't want to drive or hike up Pike's Peak, the cog railway is the way to go. It's a cramped, jostling ride so sit with someone you like. The tickets are pricey. So are the gift shops. The scenery is wonderful and there's a lot to see. We introduced ourselves to some of the people sitting around us.... more

We are from a very flat part of the country so going up the mountain was a treat. The scenery on the way up was beautiful and our guide was very entertaining. It was a beautiful clear day so the views from the top were fabulous! The only disappointment was that we saw almost no wildlife. Make sure to dress... more

The tickets sell out very quickly so go the day prior to reserver a seat. I expected a $20 per person fee and was surprised to find that it was over $30 per person. It was something that we had really wanted to check out so we paid and took our seats. The tour guide was rather bland, but you... more

We decided last minute to go, didn't have reservations, didn't do any research, but got to the depot just in time to get two seats on the 8:00 train. We thought the price was a rip off until we realized how long the ride was, we took the 8:00 train and got back about 11:15. It was very nice and... more

The cog railway was interesting! We were told that basically every time up/down the mountain, they see bighorn sheep and deer. We didn't see either, but we saw a bear, which our tour guide said in over 500 times up/down, he has only seen 5. One tip, don't forget your jacket. It really is freezing cold at the top! more

What a shame. Tourist trap heaven here now. This is a lovely mountain and a historic railway. I know they have to pay their bills, but my golly. My husband and two kids paid over a HUNDRED dollars [more like $120] today to ride the 10:40 to the top of the peak. We bought a bottle of water before the... more
