The ladies room was out of toilet paper. My 12 year old son was charged the adult price of $17.00, so it cost our family of 4 over $60.00! No one smiled at this place & did not like to hear that the TP was out. The train got stuck for about 5 minutes then we got to a place... more

The posted price for guest 12 and older is !6.95. Why pay the price then complain. I keep a guest register of written exit comments. 99% love the tour. We do an historical perspective and have a lot of return customers.

I took my wife and 5-year old son on this tour in late July. It was disappointing at best. The tour consists solely of a few minute train ride into the mine and a stop at a single location where the guide talks to you about mining and some of the tools that miners used. The guide was nice and... more

For 27 years we have successfully operated. Guest are taken 1800' into gold hill on an antique trammer. You exit into a big room where the history of the mine is presented. We show you 19th century mining equipment. We turn off the lights and light a candle to show there lighting conditions. We tell Tommy knocker stories. We talk about...

This July, I had the awesome experience of riding an old mining car 1800 ft. into the mountain of an 1800's silver mine. The knowledgeable guide, Stan, comes from a family of miners and made the difficult life of a miner come alive. He was great interacting with some of the children. We had lunch at the Miner's Cafe. Joe... more

This was so expensive ($17.00 for adults!) that you'd think they would upgrade their tracks. The guide's train car jumped the track. He said to not worry as it is a soft spot in the track and a quick fix. Well 45 minutes and 3 other guys later, they finally got us back on track and continued the tour. He... more

It happens once or twice a year. The normal tour was given. Some tourist on on a Schedule not a vacation and are upset. The tips go way up during an unusual occurrence. The vast majority find it interesting. The 1 rating is killing us. Our June was normal. July is down 40%.. Please remove it.

I guess I had the wrong idea of what the mine tour was going to be so I was disappointed. You suit up in raincoats and hard hats. Then you embark onto the train which is two cars on either side of the engine. You straddle a padded seat which is needed because the ride is very rough. They take... more

What did they expect. All the literature describes the tour. Same tour for 27 years. The profit margin is low and we are priced the same as the other mine tours with conveyances. Do they book a plane ride then complain about the seats and ticket price. This review is unfair and silly. His opinion about ticket prices is not...

I have been twice now. The first visit was four years ago. The breakfast is great-the pancakes are the best and as large as a hubcap. The cook from Georgia knows how to make great food and you can not beat the price! I found the panning for gold a little disappointing this year compared to four years ago. My... more

We were fortunate enough to hit the mine tour on a weekend that they were doing "Dollar Days", meaning my wife and I each got our tickets for one dollar a piece! They also were providing lunch which consisted of a hamburger, chips and soft drink for five dollars, and it may have been one of the best sandwiches we... more

Once again we get thousands of people each year that pay full price. The price is competitive with the other tours and allows a small profit. We keep a passenger opinion book for there written responses. its has been 97% positive for years. These people were happy to have a food $5 special but would have hatted to pay full...

This was a great stop for our family. I was a bit worried at the beginning because the guy who takes the money and gets you geared up for the tour was not friendly. Our guide was great and knowledgeable and you could tell he loved what he was doing. My son (7) was a little scared at first, because... more

From the early morning smells of a chuckwagon style breakfast buffet under an open air tent the smells intermingle with the esquisite smells of the San Juan mountains. The smells remind you of a time when nature was queen and man her servant. After a fantastic breakfast be sure and take the tour deep inside the old mine shaft a thrill... more
