I thought this ghost town was fantastic! Way more impressive than the ugly,weird, dusty town of Silverton. Beautiful views on the drive there. Dirt road from Silverton to Animas. Animas Forks was a mining town from about 1890 til 1930. Homes still standing. We saw a mountain goat in town while we were there too. more

Just wanted to post a review of the Animas Forks trail drive for this season. My wife and I took this 20+ mile backcountry drive from Silverton,Co, and found it to be easily passable in any 4X vehicle ( passenger car if its dry) Its not too rough and not any extreme type of trail. There was some snow on... more
