My wife and I did the Telluride to Moab ride in June '05. We were in our mid to late 40's back then and had an absolute blast! It was a fantastic adventure. My wife was a little hesitant at the start as you really don't quite know what to expect. We ended up sharing the trip/huts with two other... more

We did the telluride-moab hut to hut trail ride this last September and had a terrific time. The huts were rustic, just the way we wanted. The views were outstanding and the riding a great challenge. It was one of my favorite trips that I have ever done. Now, i have to say that we were blessed with terrific weather... more

We went in summer to avoid the cold. It was "peak heat" they said. Well, that doesn't have anything on a Mississippi summer... so we were pleased with the "cool" temps. Humidity was like 4% so watch your water intake. Huts have varying levels of food. Bacon/eggs were only at 1 hut, and there wasn't much. Map is good. Paper... more

I concur with those reviewers who describe the condition of the huts as very inconsistent. One hut would be completely stocked with eggs, bacon, fruit, pasta, paper products, wine and beer and then the next would be severely lacking or devoid of many or most of these items. And the problems seemed to get worse as one rode further from... more

Having just come off an early Sept. run from Telluride to Moab I can say this outfit needs some competition. Unfortunately, it is a Monopoly ! The food to survive is provided; but the basics/choices which are talked up by the company are often lacking. We arrived at a hut a few days into the ride which had recently been... more

I completed the Durango - Moab route the beginning of August 2007. Overall I had a great time - nice cycling, beautiful scenery, quiet roads, good physical challenge and outstanding locations for each of the huts. I would recommend such a trip but wanted to share a few thoughts and answer a few questions that I had before I left.... more

I just completed the ride and would strongly recommend anyone considering it to change their mind. First and perhaps most important of all are the issue of directions. The maps which he gives you are terrible. He refuses to give you multiple maps (i.e. one per person). What if your goup seperates, these things happen. There are more current and... more

Great trip, highly recommend. This route is strenuous, not for beginners. The first night and next day my group all suffered from a little altitude sickness. We are from southern California at about sea level. We lucked out and had good weather but if it had not I doubt the trip would have been enjoyable. A warning for anyone going... more

I happen to live in the area where the San Juan Hut System takes off so the only thing I can t say about my trip is how the flight in was. However I do take the plane in and out of Montrose and find it as enjoyable as a puddle jump into a small town can be. As for... more

About 9 months ago we read about the San Juan Hut system and specifically the Telluride to Moab mountain bike part of the system through the National Geographic Adventure magazine. We all thought it would be a fantastic trip. We had all been to "hut" before, during the winter, which ranged from the huge log chalets of the Summit Hut... more
