I found out about this place shortly before traveling to Connecticut. I never been inside a submarine and I was wanting to experience it for myself. What a great place to go to and I don't mean just adults. The museum has full size torpedoes on display and also control rooms and all sorts of memorabilia on the walls. Of... more

On our recent trip to visit Mystic Seaport, we had planned to stop at some other attractions besides the Seaport (Mohegan Sun, Olde Mistick Village) and the Nautilus Submarine Force Museum wasn't a "must do" on our itinerary, but I'm glad we decided to go! Free parking, free admission (donations accepted), excellent exhibits about the history of submarines and an actual tour on board the Nautilus, Admiral Hyman G. Rickover's pet project and the world's first nuclear powered submarine. Extremely well done and very interesting whether you have sailed on a submarine or if you have never even seen one. Note: You won't get to... more

On staff are active duty Navy submariners that are more than happy to tell sea-stories and answer any questions about the submarines and life aboard them. Also located at the museum... more

We visited the Nautilis museum and the nuclear submarine on a rainy Saturday afternoon in June, 2006. There were no crowds and no wait to get onto the submarine. The admission price is free. They do ask for a donation and that you exit through the gift shop, but for the admission price I thought it was tastefully done. My... more

My girlfriend and I visited her friend who lived in Groton, CT, while we were on a holiday to New York and New Jersey. Her friend's husband was recently back from naval service and offered to take us to the museum one afternoon. Here, you are able to wander around to look at various types of sea-faring vessels and weaponry... more
