I was so warmly greeted upon my arrival setting the mood for the rest of my visit. The receptionist was very helpful in advising me on my travel plans. I enjoyed the Old State House with the self-guided tour (I opted out of the guided tour) and particularly enjoyed the Mortensen Gallery especially the "We Contribute" exhibit. I found that... More

This is an interesting tour, but not a reason to go to Hartford. Parking is difficult, unless you are willing to pay $7 (?) to park in a lot. We may have hit a bad day, because Mitt Romney was in town for a political rally and was speaking at a hotel that was nearby. We were fortunate to get... More

If you're a bit of a history nerd, the Old State House is definitely worth a stop. There is always something special about walking the floors where major historical events occurred (like the beginning of the Amistad trial, which took place here at the OSH.) The building itself doesn't take that long to walk through. There is a guided tour,... More

It was nice to hear and read about what happened there but we got the impression that they were surprised to see us! They seemed a bit excited about some tourists arriving and the 'self-guided tour' felt almost thrown together as we worked our way around the building. It was a shame as there was a lot of history to... More

AAA discount was $3. They were proactive at the desk about asking me if I was military, a teacher, a student or AAA, which was nice. I knew walking in the door that I got a discount by showing my AAA card (be prepared to present it!), but I thought it was a refreshing change of pace for them to... More

My husband and I recently visited the Old State House to see the opening of their new exhibit. "History is All Around Us". I can't believe how much things have changed since we've last been there. We took the audio tour and even saw a two-headed calf. I could have spent hours in the new exhibit. There's so much to... More
