Downtown Hartford is a beautiful place to walk around and look all the stunning old buildings. The park is an easy and interesting stroll from the Marriott/Convention Center. We walked down in the morning and, while that was perfect light for the arch commemorating soldiers fallen in the Civil War, the carousel does not open until 11 o'clock. I peeked... more

This was a super park. There was a carousel that the kids rode on. It is right across from the state capitol, which is gorgous. It was a little hard for us to find, since it is downtown, but worth it. There isn't any free parking, so be prepared to use the parking meter. more

Bushnell Park is first public park in America that was financed with public funds. Bushnell Park has a beautiful 1914 carousel that one can ride for only 50 cents, and also features The Memorials Civil War Arch that one can climb on Thursdays in the summer for free and it has some 150 varieties of trees.
