History might as well be around every corner in New Haven, but the green probably tipifies's it.

History might as well be around every corner in New Haven, but the green probably tipifies's it.
Right at the center of New Haven's original nine square, this public space is in right next to Yale University, Chapel Street, the theaters and plenty of bars and restaurants.
New Haven's founders laid out a grid pattern of 3 by 3 squares (think city blocks) and the Green is in the middle. It's all public space so there is...

Not only is the Green lovely to walk, but from there, go in any direction for fun little shops and restaurants and museums. Located near Yale, try their walking tour, it's free. Visit the public library or take a bus ride from the stops there. Only sad point is the homeless who inhabit it, but they keep moving okay.

Love the jazz festival and the summer concert series. There is always something going on in the summer and the farmers market is great too.

Not sure if there is a homeless issue or not but...point is, you wondered. Reminded me of DC, but concentrated into a smaller area.
This historic green is not only beautiful, it is historic, and next to the University buildings. There are great festivals on the Green in summer.
3 historic churches on the national register. Peek in. Tiffany windows in Trinity. Austere beauty at the other 2
