Gumbo Limbo, strange name, nice place. They are sometimes more exciting than others, they take in endangered sea animals, or injured sea animals, so its always different. There are about 4 or 5 hugs out door tanks, volunteers give you the low down on all the animals along with a free tour. There are trails to walk, sites to see,... more

I love nature, and I love learning about it. This was perfect. There were a few different tanks, with fish and small sharks. There was a tank with a baby sea turtle. There were numerous walkways under the shade of the trees (this is a hammock.) There is also a little hop and information center. There is an area where... more

A truly memorable day was spent at this lovely Nature Reserve. It is both educational and entertaining and the sea turtles were adorable! On the day we visited a male and female turtle were released at sea, this event was celebrated with cake for the visitors and supporters. The nature trail is fascinating, lots of spiders, butterflies and bugs to... more

I really miss our 2008 nature walk to the treehouse/lookout to see a panoramic view of the ocean, city, and Intracoastal Waterway. Beautiful location off A1A, with many animals and very knowledgable staff. Just make sure you have enough time to go everywhere, because they close at 4! more

Based on the reviews here I expected a better experience. There is a boardwalk that winds through the forest and there are notices that show pictures of various animals that you should see on your walk. We saw nothing but lots of semi- interesting spiders, a squirrel and a lizard or two. We tried to keep otimistic but after awhile... more

Gumbo Limbo Nature Center is “located in the city of Boca Raton’s Red Reef Park on a barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway”. Gumbo Limbo is the name of one of the dominant tree species found there. You can walk the well-marked paths to several seawater tanks to observe sharks, sea turtles, stingrays and native fish... more

We visited during Spring Break, March 2008. We arrived shortly after they open (9 maybe?) and were essentially the only visitors for some time. The volunteer staff is pleasant and knowledgeable. It is very low key and wholesome. There are a few large outdoor tanks with marine life. Again, the volunteers are happy to talk and answer questions for as... more

I was very impressed by this Nature Centre, didnt know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. Wonderfull helpful and friendly volunteer staff. Four outdoor tanks with sealife, nurse sharks, logger head turtles and rays. It's free but I think you can make a donation. We bought a ton of stuff in the little gift store. Make sure you dont... more

We loved it! A great boardwalk through the coastal forest and turtles too. What more could you want. And if you have kids, they'd probably like it too. more
