If you want to get away this may be the place. It is nothing special but everything is adequate for camping. There is an antebellum house on the grounds overlooking the Appalachicola River which is interesting to see.

Gone with the wind styled park complete with buildings and furnishings. See the rare Torreya trees!

The staff is very friendly and helpful, and restrooms/showers are very clean at Torreya. There was firewood for purchase there. We stayed at site #17, and though a nice large site, it does not offer any shade at all. I had wanted a good place to hike and Torreya was great. The trails are often a bit rugged, with changes... We visited Torreya last weekend, Thursday to Sunday, stayed in a 5th wheel. The sites were large, well shaded and very clean. The bathhouse was next door to our site, but that wasn't a problem at all, there were trees and shrubs to divide us. A beautiful trail down to a very small "waterfall"...about 1/2 hour walk, a little steep,... More

For campers, the most important amenity is a clean bathroom. Torreya has them! The facilities were never dirty or out of order. The campground is nice and open, though a few sites would be difficult for an RV to back into. The area is beautiful, with some nice leisurely paths and some more strenuous ones. Great foliage too, & beautiful... More

We just made a quick stop to see the endangered Torreya tree. I was disappointed that a fungus has devastated most of the wild trees. There are a handfull of you ones planted near the home overlooking the the river. Park staff was helpful. Did not have much time to look around but it was a nice setting.

Torreya is one of my favorite parks to camp and hike. You will not feel like you are in Florida. Awesome views from some very beautiful bluffs overlooking the Apalachicola River. Great camp sites and friendly staff.

Nice park, well marked trails and beautiful area. We did not walk the trails,as one is 7 miles and one is 6 miles--both are loops. But it was just too much for us. There is an historic 'Gregory House' on the property, which we did not visit. But it looked splendid, with a view looking out over the Apalachicola River.

What a pleasant change to see high bluffs instead of flatland! The views here can't be beat in Florida. Fall colors give Georgia a run for it's money to! Spring and fall wildflowers abound in this park and there is much wildlife to see. 3 primitive campgrounds and 1 main RV/car camping area. These sites are long and narrow but... More

Really enjoyed our first visit. The scenery is beautiful and has nice hiking trails. Its off the beaten path but worth it. Tour of the Gregory House was very neat. We are returning in Feb for the candlelight tour and festivities. The Rangers are very nice and informative. Only complaints are -- the road to the campsites is not paved... More
