When I think Cocoa Beach I think of two things: Ron Jon's and the Pier. Skip the Pier altogether and instead visit the surf shop. We rented a surf board at the Ron Jon's rental location for the week we were in Cocoa Beach. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially since we were first-time surfers and the transaction went off without a hitch. We also shopped the Ron Jon's store. Girls were attending Space Camp and they needed a lesson after 5pm. Ron Jon's accomodated us and their instructor was Bill, who worked overtime on a hot day to give them their lesson. Thanks Bill! This store is huge, and has almost anything one could want or need for surfing, swimming, sunning, beaching etc.! It is colorful, well lit, and has several employees wandering around.
