Fort Island Gulf Beach is an off-the-beaten-path 1,000 foot wide sandy beach on the Gulf of Mexico nine miles west of Crystal River, Florida. It is a clean little beach with clean fascilities, but a bold view of Nuclear plant. Not pretty! Not something you wish to view while swimming or sunbathing. May make you worry that you will glow in the dark after a day at the beach.

It is a nice beach. sometimes people can be a little sloppy and not pick up after themselves.

Dark warm water, plenty of mosquitos and people....

Sandy beach + warm Water + Sunshine = Super stay for a quick trip to the beach!

We love coming to the beach here, it is so beautiful. The birds are a plenty and are so fun to watch. It is quiet and not crowded on any day.
