I've been at least 3 times in all cases to give Northern visitors a taste of traditional South Florida. While I think a visit to the Redlands and the Everglades is a better choice, Flamingo is conveniently located in central Broward. The admission price (look for coupons) includes a tram tour of the park and admission to the residence of...

I have been going to Flamingo Gardens with my family since i was a small child. The first time I visited there, I was probably 10 years old. That is about 35 years ago.My husband and I recently had the opportunity to visit again and this time take our 13 year old son.
He really didn't want to go as...

The only thing that ties the flamingo to Florida is Miami Vice. It's not a native bird and I don't think they're even in the wild here. I live on the edge of the Everglades and have seen a lot of animals come out occassionally, but never a flamingo. I suggest going to Miami Metro Zoo instead.
Went for the very nice Mother's Day brunch. The live show is a must see!!! Also learned a lot from the tram tour. Very cool place. Were able to see all the animals up close.
Take your family and spend some time here!Bring the cameras!

I spent more than 3 hours here early on a hot Sunday afternoon in May. With the $2 coupon that I retrieved from their official web site I paid $20 admission. That included...

absolutely love strolling around the beautiful grounds.
Wonderful sanctuary were you can get up close to many birds in the aviary. This use to be an old citrus plantation from the 1930s. The Wray house is still on the property & interesting to tour (free). The grounds are beautiful with many great paths to stroll around on. Most of the critters (birds, opossum, alligators, etc) are rescued...

If you appreciate nature, this place is worth spending a day. Nowhere else in Florida will giant trees like these amaze you. Contrary to perception, apart from beaches, Florida does have natural beauty and it is wonderfully preserved here in the beautiful gardens. The staff and volunteers are very friendly and helpful. Being a non-profit habitat that rehabilitates animals and...
