Our hotel/resort had tons of the umbrella and chairs that could be rented making our beach experience not so great. We went to Henderson State Park and there was none of this. Well worth the $6 to get in. Nothing around it...you can see hotels in the distance, but nothing right on top of you. more

Beautiful beach, clean, not real crowded, easy to get to, costs a nominal fee to get in (per car/per person thing) and just a great place to be. They have restrooms with a changing area, outside shower to hose off, pavilions to picnic or just sit in the shade, and the entrance area sells water and some little things. The... more

In response to Deanie in TN, I don't know what you expected to find at HBSP when you got there, but if you had a condo on the beach, you didn't need the park. It's a beach access point, pure and simple. Henderson Beach is the BEST in the area. I live about 1.5 hours away, and as a "daytripper"... more

For our $6 dollars this is what we got to do: drive a half mile down to a parking lot, park our car, and walk along the beach. At our condo, we got to do this for free and anyone in Destin has access to the beach at the many public free beach access points. There is a nice pavillion... more

Our first trip to Destin was the last week in June. I researched information about beaches in Destin before we visited and also was advised by a friend who visited Henderson State Beach a week before we did to make sure we visitied this beach. Words cannot describe how beautifil the white sand beach and crystal clear water was. I... more

My husband and I took our 3 kids on a camping trip to Henderson Beach State Park for the 4th of July weekend. We are from Dallas, TX so it was a long drive but well worth it. We had never seen such a pretty beach. The soft white sand glittered in the sun. The water was more beatuiful than... more

There June 2009. Beautiful beach; clean, nice sand. Very little shells, so shell hunting not great. Water is BEAUTIFUL emerald green and fairly clear. The walk to the beach is about 1/2 mile from RV camping sites; you'll want a cart to bring your stuff. The shower/bathrooms area very well maintained and clean. The camping area is extremely well maintained... more

We stopped by this state park for the afternoon yesterday because I am a bit of a nature freak. We normally go to St. George Island for camping and general state park beach activity. This park was no comparison. It is a nice little getaway right in the heart of Destin, with hotels on either side. The beach was nearly... more

My family just returned from a wonderful week camping at Henderson Beach State Park. The campground is small but very clean, and the restrooms and showers are the cleaniest I have ever seen in a campground. Each site is gravel, so the amount of sand that was tracked in was minimal. There was a fire ban in place while we... more

We visited Henderson Beach on July 4th with my family of 4 along with my Father-in-law who happens to live in Crestview (which is north of Destin). It cost $4.00 a carload for up to 5 people to get in, which was reasonable (Henderson Beach is a state-run facility). I had read the reviews of the beach, and was also... more
