Yesterday we decided to go to a different dog beach than we usually do and found out about the Honeymoon Island Dog beach. It seemed very conveinent as it was close in location so we decided to give it a go. When we got there I was shocked at the $8.00 entrance fee that we had to pay but we... more

There is a portion of the beach at Honeymoon Island that allows pets. We went one evening around sunset and it was really nice. The next morning it was more crowded, but we had a blast. The dogs enjoyed cooling off in the water. It was a long walk from the car to the beach and we actually ended up... more

Honeymoon island is a really nice place to go for the day to relax, walk, fish and explore. It costs $5 per car to enter the park and you can leave and return on the same ticket throughout the day. There is a picnic area and nature trail as well as beaches all over the island. There is a pet... more

Stopped by this park after a ball game in Dunedin on my annual spring training visit. It costs $5 to get in but its well worth it. They have a cool little nature center that closes at 5. They let you use the beach until sunset. A lot of the beach is very rocky but it runs out for a... more

Although I would not want to swim here, It is great for walking, shelling, and observing wildlife. There were not many people and the shells I picked were beautiful. From the nature center I looked through a high power telescope and saw a falcon eating its catch, which happened to be another bird. Nearby, something leapt out of the water... more

This is an amazing place to view wildlife and the beach is beautiful. There are nature trails that are off the beaten path. They can be a bit messy and mosquito infested at times but they sell bugspray at the beach store in case you forget to bring some. There are eagles, osprey, Great Horned Owls, gopher tortoises, box turtles,... more

This is a gorgeous, natural beach on the Gulf. We visited in September of 2007. It was so peaceful, my kids spent hours playing in the sand, they caught hermit crabs and explored tide pools, it was amazing. If you like seashells and wildlife, this is the place to be. My son brought home 2 huge buckets of beautiful shells.We... more

Honeymoon Island is a bit different. It's kind of like an untouched park. With all the great beaches in the area this isn't the one to come and do the normal beach routine. Honeymoon island is an untouched masterpiece. It doesn't have all the crowds of people, and tourist activities and pristine beaches to play on. This is great beach... more

During a one week stay in the area (mid-February) we came out to Honeymoon Island twice. For a $5 entry fee you can walk trails, see the small but informative nature center and enjoy a nice playground (the playground is inland, not on the beach). And of course there is plenty of beach access. There is one snack bar with... more
