I live in Tampa but this was my first trip to Caladesi Island with some family in town from Arizona. We absolutely loved it. The #1 beach was well deserved. I cant think of a better beach to spend the day enjoying. We loved the shells and sanddollars that speckle the coast as well as the luxurious white sand. I... more

We went in August 2008. We caught the first ferry over and it wasnt too busy at that time. Unfortunatly the weather was fairly stormy and the beach was covered in seaweed, ot was also far to wavy and dangerous for the children to swim. I can see that on a calm day it would be beautiful. The toilet acilites... more

I know a lot of people will disagree with this - but saying it as I saw it. I was there yesterday - 8th August 08. It was a red flag day, maybe that makes a difference I don't know. Beaches were covered in seaweed, and water was really agitated and full of sand. Maybe on a still day they'd... more

I planned a work/pleasure trip to the Tampa/Clearwater area and decided to stay in Clearwater Beach; as opposed to hitting one of the very local beaches I decided to do some research and came accross Caledesi. Decided that Caledesi would be a wonderful place to head to and learned a week after my decision that Caledesi was then selected as... more

My family and I were on our first Florida vacation. We didn't have a real urge to do the theme parks, so stayed in Clearwater Beach. I had researched Caladesi Island beforehand and it was everything it advertised - beautiful, natural, shells GALORE (we're talking beautiful, unbroken, great variety!), incredible white sand, and not alot of people! My 2 children... more

Went to Caladesi Island on May 23, 2008. We did not have to wait hours for the ferry - a mere 15 minutes until the next ferry boarding time. On the ferry ride to Caladesi from Honeymoon, we saw lots of wildlife - including a dolphin in the sound. Upon arriving at Caladesi, I was surprised at how nice the... more

My girlfriend and I recently returned from a trip to Caladesi Island State Park. This is a nice beach (I wouldn't say great), but the wait to get on the ferry was brutal--about two hours. Each ferry only holds 60 passengers, and they fill up quickly. Worse yet, no one at the state park is able to tell you whether... more

After reading all the great things, I had to visit Caladesi Island State Park. To get to Caladesi, you have to drive to Honeymoon Island and take the ferry. The ferry ride is about 15 minutes and the boat staff warn you that if you do not want to get wet, sit behind the captain. There were a few splashes... more

We stayed in Orlando for 5 nights in April and took one day to drive to Caladesi Island...VERY worth the trip, which was short, only 1 1/2-2 Hours, plus we got to see more of Florida. You drive to Honeymoon Island and then take a ferry to Caladesi. Warning, you may get wet on the ferry as it heads over,... more

I was really looking forward to checking out Caladesi Island SP, and I wasn't disappointed. Especially after reading about it being the #2 beach in the us. You go to Honeymoon Island and pay $5 entrance fee and go to the Ferry and Pay $9 adult and $5 for kids 12 and under. The ferry ride takes about 15 mintues... more
