I have lived in Ft. Lauderdale my whole life (33 years) driven by this place hundreds of times and never knew what I was missing! We spotted the monkeys right away with a baby in tow; they were just off the boardwalk and bounded around in the trees overhead. The rest of the tour was equally satisfying. All the staff... more

Great place, lots of neat architecture, rare plants, amizing close up wildlife, great for professional photographers like myself, got some really nice head/body shots of wild moinkeys without the need to carry long lenses, only used a 200mm. Tour guide john was very informative and exciting to listen to. more

The Bonnet House Museum and Gardens are located on A-!-A, the coastal road along the beach. The Bonnet House is a member of the National Historic Trust and is a must see when visiting or living in Fort Lauderdale. Entering the Bonnet House grounds is leaving the City behind stepping into the history of one of the area's founding families.... more

The day we went there were very few other visitors, so our tour of the house included the two of us and two tour guides. It is a beautiful home with lovely artwork. The grounds are also beautiful with lots of iguanas and a swan family. I wanted to see the monkeys, but did not find any. more

If you like to visit historic homes, this plantation house is definitely a little out of the ordinary. Beautiful house and great explanations of the purpose and objects in the rooms. Very enjoyable visit. I even took some ideas for decorating my own house, since I love to paint. more

Spent a stormy afternoon here and did the 1 hour tour and had no regrets. Very charming place full of exotic art and scultpures with lots of history behind the house itself. I dragged one of my friends here and she was pleasantly surprised by what we saw. Very close to the beach and hotels, great way to spend an... more

We discovered this gem of a place from the Internet, and it was a reasonable walk from our hotel. Although we had never before heard of the owner (and architect of his own place), the American painter Frederic Bartlett, he was very well known and respected in his day, selling over $60K worth of pictures in the early-mid part of... more

We visited Bonnet House late in the afternoon shortly before it closed for the day. I wish we had been able to spend more time on the grounds. Joanne, who is featured in the educational video, was our guide and she clearly loved the place. The quality of the experience is dependant on the quality of the docent and Joanne... more

I just had the opportunity to visit this historic landmark in Ft. Lauderdale and have the following advice: Go to bonnethouse.org where you can print out a $1.00 off coupon. AAA saves you an additional $2.00 off the $15.00 entrance fee. Not all tour guides are created equal. Our first one was a drag so we jumped ship and waited... more

While the review header describes it as "historic 1921 plantation-style waterfront home", Let me tell you that this is no ordinary 1921 home. Mr Bartlett designed and built it from the ground up with an unusual minimalist design for the era. Each room has a hand crafted style to it, with both walls and floors painted and decorated. The designs... more
