We visit Fort Myers yearly and always make it a point to take a hike through Six Mile Cypress. As birders, we appreciate the many avian residents, but we've seen alligators and wild pigs there, too. Take your camera, binoculars, and/or spotting scope for a real treat! more

We made our first visit to Six Mile Cypress Slough this year, and it won't be our last. What a lovely way to spend some relaxing time enjoying nature, listening to it as well as viewing it. Bring your camera and binoculars for the best views and memories. Entry is free, the only charge is an hourly parking fee- I... more

We visited the preserve to kill some time before hotel check in. It is free to enter and only $1.00 per hour to park, on the honor system. Walk through this preserve following the wood boardwalk and see several different habitats. The whole walk through took just under two hours. We saw all sorts of birds, lizards, and spiders. It... more

I enjoy watching wildlife so I always look for places such as this. It is easy to find. You only pay for parking (by the hour). You walk at your own pace on a 1.2 mile boardwalk. I saw 2 alligators, a snake, fish, turtles, butterflies, and multiple birds. Looked down into the water from a pier and saw a... more

My husband and I had never been to Florida. We happened to stumble upon this preserve on our way to a baseball game. We returned the following day not knowing what to expect. What a treat! First and foremost it was free. The only cost involved is a minimal parking fee and this is based on the amount of time... more

My husband and I went to this preserve one afternoon and enjoyed our time there. It took us a little over an hour to walk the whole preserve. There was plenty of wildlife to take in and we even saw an alligator! There is no fee to enter and it is only a dollar an hour to park. If you... more

This was a great way to spend a few hours. We came in January during the dry season, and we saw a variety of wildlife. The price was right (a dollar per hour for parking), the weather was comfortable (no mosquitoes either), and the staff was very friendly. This would be a great destination for most groups, especially if they... more

We love this place and have never gone without seeing something new or interesting. The people are so friendly and helpful also. Very nice cheap place to spend the morning. We go quite often and no matter what time of year it always amazes us. Take binoculars for the most enjoyment. Look at the far shorelines and most likely you... more

I loved this nature spot in Fort Myers. I walked the 1.2 mile boardwalk and enjoyed the lush tropical greenery. What was even better are all the beautiful Florida birds located here. I saw egrets, herons, native Florida songbirds, and many white ibis. The great thing here is you don't even need your binoculars to see the birds. I saw... more
