the fort pierce inlet was in our back yard, being ststioned at the old coast guard station, (science center now ) back in 1942 & 43.we went to sea many times out thru the inlet. the ss republic, and the java-arrow were both torpedoed off the coast. many survivors were brought into fort pierce, thru the inlet. some had servere... more
