As an Englishman I had never heard about Marjorie Rawlings, after visiting her home I now have a good understanding of her. The house is faithfully preserved as it would have been when she lived there in the the 1930s and 40s and most of the artefacts there are her's. An unhurried look back into "old Florida" life. The volunteer docents tell entertaining stories and give great tours, for heart-felt donations only. I take most of my out-of-town guests there. After visiting the house & grounds, don't miss a meal at the Yearling Restaurant in Cross Creek - a tad pricey at lunchtime but delicious! They also have an in-house... more
