This is a great hands-on museum for kids.The native American displays and the tee-pee are the best.It is a fun place for kids on all ages. more
We arrived in Gainesville around mid-afternoon on Friday and were planning on attending a college football game the next day so decided to take our two kids (ages 9 and 6) to the Florida Museum. Gainesville isn't really a tourist destination (it's just a college town really), but this museum is one thing worth stopping at. This museum covers the history of the different regions of Florida and does so in an excellent and interesting manner. The museum has moved to the University of Florida Cultural Plaza at SW 34th Street and Hull Road (next to the Harn Museum and the Phillips Center).
