The Hippodrome is such a great venue for experiencing live theater. We are long time season ticket holders even though we live in another town. There are productions for every taste. The size of the auditorium provides an intimate feel for the audience. This is a wonderful old venue that needs to continue to be supported and preserved.

Give your kids the gift of seeing a real Play of Broadway/Off Broadway style and prove to the kids that their are other forms of entertainment than movies and DVD's.

The Hippodrome doesn't get all of the productions that some larger theaters get in larger cities, but the productions they do get are very good. I have seen several plays and musicals in this theater and have been happy with each visit. The Hipp also shows movies that are usually really good and worth seeing. A night at the Hipp... More

I have been seeing plays and movies at the hippodrome for over a decade now. I became season ticket holder over five years ago. I try to make it to at least half of the plays each season. Considering we are a small town smack dab in the middle of north Florida (as opposed to a city like Miami, Boston,... More

We went to a play at the "mainstage." I don't go the plays much but I was pleasantly surprised! It is an incredibly personal venue, you are right next to the stage. The tickets are not much more than a movie. Definitely worth a try!

We've gone to many plays here over the last 10 years, and even if we didn't like one or two, they are always very professionally acted, directed, and produced. The setting is one of the best features, in a historical building in downtown Gainesville.
