I rented a small motorboat and took my camera on a sight-seeing tour of the Loxahatchee River. river. Just me and my camera for 4 hours. I was amazed at how beautiful it was! I saw cypress threes that are hundreds of years old; long, graceful stands of mangroves; alligators (on the bank); and some of the most amazing reflections... More

Had an infuriating experience while camping because of a large group partying much after Jonathan Dickinson State Park's Quiet Time, 11pm. We were made to feel like it was our problem. Money was refunded and another night's stay at a different state park was also provided.

We do love a boat trip and this tour was definitely one of the highlights of our holiday in Florida. We had underestimated the distance from the park entrance to the boat but the rangers kindly 'phoned ahead and the boat was held for us. Captain Tom was an excellent, knowledgeable guide and a great raconteur to boot! We could... More

Our boys (5 & 10) really enjoyed this state park. We took our time on one of the trails, looking at all the plants. We found a baby frog and turtle while on the trail...which kept them occupied for a bit. The visitor center is full of great facts and info on the park and animals. VERY INFORMATIVE. We also... More

We took ou Grandsons to the park and had a wonderful day. Took the boat tour up to the camp and hd a guided tour. Such a beautiful natural river tour where we saw many alligators, birds, racoons, turtles, manatees, osprey and fish. The best part was the are protected and in their natural habitat. We actually went canoeing in the park. One of the best outdoors experiences we have had since moving to Florida!

Jonathan Dickinson State Park has a large area of scrubby low trees and vegetation and an observation tower to which you must walk up stairs and see the surrounding area. Nice view. You may encounter large gopher tortoises, which can be a little mean. Watch your fingers. There is an visitor center that has info about the flora and fauna.... More

We go to JD State park frequently and always find something different to do. Nice to get away from the crowds.

We stayed at the more rustic of the two campgrounds, the one by the Loxahatchee River. I really enjoyed seeing a variety of birds and rabbits. We enjoyed walking on the trails and climbing Hobe Mountain (86 feet). There is a nice view from the top of the platform and you can read about Camp Murphy which was a Signal... More
