When you tire of the shops and bars on Duval Street, consider this refreshing state park very close to downtown. Make your first stop the historic fort. It's worth a walk around, following the brochure for the self-guided tour. Our second stop was the beach. Just beautiful. The December wind and cooler temps made it too cool to go in... more

Our fantastic hotel concierge guided my now fiance to the Fort Zachary State Park to propose- it was beautiful. We took a short walk down a path to a small, private beach (just a few locals there). If somebody didn't tell us about this area, we would have never found it! You can pack a picnic and watch the sunset... more

We decided to hire Kirsten Blount, event coordinator, at Ft. Zachary Taylor State Park in Key West to orchestrate the vendors for our destination wedding. Kirsten was organized, efficient, and easy to communicate with throughout the planning stages of our wedding. Even though being out of state can cause some stress, Kristen was always optimistic and direct with her communication.... more

We visited Key West the second week in October. This is by far the best beach in Key West, we spent almost every day here. There is an entrance fee, but it's an all day pass, so we returned at night to watch the sunset. more

We visited this park the week of June 15th, 2009. We really liked the shaded picnic area. When it got a little hot or when we decided to eat our packed lunch, we could sit in the shade and enjoy our meal. Dolphins swam by the beach. The water was so clear. It was my first time snorkeling and I... more

There is a small entrance fee a carload of 6 cost $8. If you are used to beaches in southern New Jersey or the outer banks you will think this is a "GREAT" beach (clear water, but little surf). If you've been to some of the Carribbean beaches or Southern Florida beaches you may be dissappointed. There is the Fort,... more

Here is the deal:This beach is just okay IF you know beaches. It's that simple. The northerners that review are going to think it is beautiful...and it is. Sort of. I am from SW FL so this beach cannot even compare to our beaches - Naples or Bonita. We have white sand, clear water, NO rocks, No yuck washed up,... more

Don't listen to people who say Key West doesn't have beaches. I am a beach person and Fort Zachary did great for me! Fort Zachary Taylor is not only beautiful, it makes a relaxing day to spend in Key West. The water is just gorgeous! Lots of shades of blue and very clear. You can even snorkel from the beach... more

Kristen at Ft. Zach arranged the officiate. She did not return our phone calls until the day of our wedding and after Ft. Zach called her. She made MANY mistakes during the ceremony and it was very embarrassing. Also, we paid money to reserve a site, but it made no difference. Another couple came right over to take pictures and... more

This is unfortunate. However, the officiate for this wedding was not Kirsten. Kirsten is the Event Director for Fort Zachary Taylor Visitor Services. This couple booked an officiate very late. She (the officiate) came highly recommended in town and we passed her name and number to the couple. Needless to say this vendor no longer does business with Fort Zachary...
