In any other town, I would consider a place like Capt. Tony's Saloon a dingy heap to be avoided. But for some reason, in Key West, it just WORKS. Capt. Tony's is like no other place I've been in, for good or bad. The entire bar from floor to ceiling is covered in old lingerie, junkyard finds and business cards... more
Yes indeed, there are thousands of business cards and a whole lot of bras on the ceiling. Drink special, Pirate’s Punch, was a good value—tasty and a good pour. It’s pretty dark in the bar even though it is open air in front. more
It's just a cool place to hang and listen to a band or a local guitarist. And, if you're lucky, you just may meet Captain Tony as we did last week. You need to go here, seriously! more
Captain Tony's is a must see.... The place definitely has character! Wonderful piece of history with the tree and gravestone , the skeleton behind the bar, the multitudes of bras and business cards that adorn walls, ceilings, everywhere! The bartenders are great, local musicians keep the place lively with great tunes, and you might even meet Captain Tony himself. more
I have been going to Capt.Tony's since I was stationed at Homestead AFB in 1973 The place still makes me smile:-) My liver my not be as happy. Great place! Look for my card it's hanging next to a bra! more
The Captains Punch should not be missed. Come prepared to leave your own memories on the wall, ceiling, etc. We hit this place everyday/night. You will find a tree alive and growing through the roof, a tombstone and more. I hope I have peaked your interest! more
Captain Tony's saloon is a must see for all visitors to Key West. If you want to get past all the commericialism that has turned parts of this little island into a tourist trap, go here and experience a historic piece of paradise. Captain Tony himself is often here and his story is one that that will entertain and educate... more
I make multiple visits annually as I "snowbird" down to the Lower Keys for a couple months each winter ... and I will maintain as other reviews here, that a little time spent in Capt. Tony's Saloon is imperative. It's oft times rowdy and fun, sometimes lower-keyed but still fun, often with live country/bluesy musicians included, it's THE institution of... more
Captain Tony's is by far my favorite stop in Key West. We have been visiting Key West every January for the last several years and Captain Tony's is a daily treat. Be sure to try the Pirate Punch and stop in during the evening when Captain Tony is on site. He is a hoot! more
