We really enjoyed seeing the natural habitat of many plants and trees in this part of Florida. The stroll around was nice and easy, all ages can do this and apart from the few places to visit the paths are smooth and easy to meander around- not hard on the knees or feet. We visited Crane Point in February 2009. The staff and volunteers were very pleasant. The trails were nice, everything was very clean, and it was nice shade on a rather warm day. They have a tram ride to take you around the park as well with a great guide that will give you alot of information about the history of the area. Call ahead to reserve a seat, only 6-7 people per tram ride. more

We went there November 2008. The hiking trails were nice and not crowded at all, though we weren't able to go into Crane House as it was under renovation at the time. The mangrove trail in particular was nice, and the staff was very friendly. Overall, very cool, and we plan to go there again. more

Crane Point is a wonderful stop for a sampling of Keys history and nature. Trails, museum, bird rescue, feed the snapper on the bay - all at your own pace. There is a guided tour if you like too. We were driving through the keys and decided to stop here and check out the museum and trails. The volunteers were very nice and knowledgeable, and you can learn a lot about the keys at the museum. We stopped here one morning and were pleasantly surprised by the place. It is not a large place but has a nice path that lets you see how the Keys used to be. We stumbled on Crane Point by accident. Quite a nice little museum with very helpful docents. The fish "lagoon" outside was fascinating. The trails aren't much to speak of, but the center is going through a big renovation, and I think the outdoor exhibits will improve dramatically. Visit the bird rescue center.
