Florida is one of the very few states in the USA that does NOT give senior day visitors a discount. We could not afford to go in so I can not comment on the park itself. Come on, Florida....give us a break!

About a half-hours drive East of Lake Wales we find Lake Kissimmee State Park.. Like many state parks it is now operating on reduced hours due to State budget deficiencies. We rode our cycle and stayed at the park for about 2 hrs. We watched the fisherman come and go in their boats. They all seemed to have had a good day out on the Lake. We also watched as some fished from the side or dock. It seems like a real nice park.

This State Park has it all! From large camping areas to picnicing, hiking, fishing or or listening to an old "Cracker" Cowboy tell stories about the way Florida used to be! Looking for a great day trip or want to camp out the watch the deer or turkeys? You will not regret this one! Enjoy! : )

Bicycled through a couple and enjoyed it. Would kayak next time.

We went when it was a little chilly, however it is a great place for bike riders to explore.

This state park is some distance from Lake Wales, but worth going to if you like hiking. Parking was convenient to the trailhead and the short loop trail to the lake was well marked. We made a trip down from Orlando to the park - which was a little more of a drive than we expected. The gate ranger was helpful and the bathrooms clean. Plenty of room for day trip exploring and my young boys enjoyed climbing the trees.
