Planned an outing with a few other couples for last 4th of July. Reserved a cabana on the river. We had electrical power, a grill to use (shared with one other party- no problems), outdoor furniture - a couch, chair, coffee table. I covered the furniture with towels & blankets to sit on. The cabana had an ice chest that... More

You truly feel like you've escaped the city when you visit Wekiva Island. This place can get a bit packed on the weekends, but thats ok with me! Swimming, kayaking, canoeing, fresh brewed beer, etc. Bring your friends, leave the very little kids at home. There is tug-of-war, corn hole, nice adirondack chairs near the river, sand volleyball, live music,... More

There is nothing else like this around Orlando that I am aware of and I live here. Not great for the little kids as it is basically a bar by the river IMHO. You dont go here for food. You go here to drink beers, play bolleyball and socialize while jumping in the Wekiva river of renting a canoe or... More

Wekiva Island is an amazing place to spent the day. If you want to have some fun in the sun with some drinks, some Friends, and plenty of activities, than this is the place to be. I've gone there just to screw off for a few hours, and also to go canoeing aroung Wekiva. You can rent a cabana hut,... More

DH and I were camping at the state park next door and decided to go for a drink. Very cute, with chairs along the Wekiva River, a bar, some cabanas you can rent and lots of kayaks and canoes to rent. They are also building a restaurant on the water. We had cheap beers and wine. It was "foodtruck Friday".... More

We've never taken advantage of the bar or some of the other things going on at Wekiva Island, but we have rented canoes from them. It's a great starting point if you want to go to either Wekiva Springs or canoe towards Rock Springs.

Wekiva Island (formerly Wekiva Marina) has been around for over 30 years, although was renovated about 3 years ago when it was purchased by it's new owners. They now have about 100 new canoes and about 30 kayaks each of which can be rented for $30 (before 12pm) or $25 (after 12pm). The facility is right on the Wekiva River.... More

The Wekiva river begins as the Wekiva Springs. An actual Spring Head in which you can swim, dive, and snorkel. The lazy, crystal clear river is a wonderful 70 degrees all year. Tons of fish, bird, and yes, gators. The Island is not far from downtown, its close to all of central Florida. The Island was recently rebuilt after a... More
