From Fort Lauderdale,I went there with my daughter. It was quite far for few. Inside the zoo we must walk a lot (you must pay for bycicles) to see few animals ... if you are lucky : the animals are in parks and if they don't sleep somewhere you need binoculars and you must pay for them. In the restaurant... more

I went to this Zoo on April 24th. This zoo has a huge diversity of species, and informative, interactive explanations on the animals. The Asia Aviarium was the best part of the zoo to me. It is supposed to be the largest in North America. They have great breeding and repopulation programs, so you know your admission price is doing... more

My family and I drove to Miami to visit the zoo for a family outing. Little did we know some of the exhibits roamed the walkways. My 4 yr old daughter was walking just ahead of me when I saw the 24" black snake in the walkway. Had she taken another step she would have stepped right on it!! I... more

Having visited most of the top zoo's in the country, I was a bit hesitant to visit the Miami Metro Zoo. After reading reviews from Frommers and Trip Advisor, I decided to visit. I am so glad I did. Miami Metro Zoo is one of the nicest, cleanest, and largest zoo's I have been to (especially being a Miami -Dade... more

Visited the zoo om Monday, March 16, 2009. Were the first people in when the zoo opened and spent the entire day there. Great selection of aminals, particularly enjoyed the gibbons (great "vocal performace" in the morning), the Chimps and Gorillas. Thanks to glass windows in the enclosures, we were able to get literally inches away from both the Chimps... more

While in different cities, my wife and I like to visit zoos. Just to give you some perspective: we've been to Atlanta, Tampa, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Knoxville, Memphis, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Washington, D.C., and Miami. Miami is probably by second favorite, behind Tampa. I recommend renting the Safari Cycle, especially if the zoo isn't crowded. We rented a bike and we... more

This is truly a Great zoo, but because of its size and the Florida sun, it requires planning to truly enjoy it without becomming exhausted. My recommendation for a great time: 1. Rent a Safari Cycle. These 4 wheel bikes can accomodate 3 adults and 2 small kids or 6 adults and 2 small kids. They help you move around... more

Having fond memories of the zoo from my childhood growing up in South Florida, I was excited to take my 2-year-old daughter there. Unfortunately, the zoo has not changed with the times and is just a big dustbowl with not much to do. I found the exhibits uninspired and uninteresting, and there is very little shade from the hot Florida... more
