We enjoyed walking around and learning all about the area. It was very pretty and serene. The people we met there who work there knew a lot about the area and the history of the area, and told us a lot of interesting things.

Turtle Mound National Park is a great place with loads of pre-Florida history if you bother to do a little research. The name Turtle Mound comes from the shape of the midden or oyster mound that currently stands about 50" tall.

My parents had been there before on a previous trip, so we took our two young children with us for a sunset stroll. The kids really enjoyed it and got their energy out before bedtime as it was a little over a 1-mile walk from start to finish. It was pretty at sunset, though just walking along the beach was...

Many big turtles and very nice and comfortable walk

Visited Turtle Mound National Historic Site on 2/24 with family from WA state. Very interesting walk along the elevated boardwalk to get to the two observation points atop the mound. Most of the explanation signage was missing, probably due to the season. Access requires admission to the Canaveral National Seashore.
We went and had a blast! There is a lot of history in this area and animals were EVERYWHERE! We saw armadillos, raccoons and giant turtles as well as dolphins in the water! On the mound side there is a path with the coolest view of the inlet and the ocean. Also, the beach is undeveloped which means the only...

The site itself is not totally memorable and dont go just to see it - but it is well worth the visit for the history behind it and to reflect on the orginal inhabitants of the area.
Largest Native American midden we've ever seen. Very impressive and worth the trip.
