Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We talked to the owner and after texting him to book the trip he offered us while it was available. He texted an hour later wanting time to confirm. He never called me. 20 min after he texted I texted him back and he had given away our spot. I was driving to the beach and couldn’t respond when he texted me. I was very clear to book our trip and the day he offered. Then he was a jerk and said you can’t leave me bad reviews because you didn’t go out with me. Wasted hours of our time and he didn’t care at all.

Had a trip booked and the captain never showed. I should have known something was not right when I tried contacting the captain for two days leading up to the scheduled trip and his voice mailbox was full. I received a test at 5:58 a.m. on the morning of the trip asking to call the captain. Which I did about 10 times along with multiple text with no response. We waited at the provided location for an hour. No one ever showed. DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS SERVICE.

Jason as I explained on our phone call we woukd be glad to give you a free charter for your inconvenience even though we have provided you screen shots of the Captains call log and text message showing that he contacted you the day prior to your trip and never received a response. You can see by the thousands of reviews we have all over the internet that we take care of our customers. However when we do not receive a response to calls and text the day prior to the trip we will not go to the ramp in hopes the customer might show up. In peek season we have 10-20 customers a day that call wanting to fish. When a customer does not reply to our calls and text the day before the trip we reach out to one of these callers we had previously told we were booked and try to fill the opening. The reason we contact the customer the day before their scheduled trip is to set up the meeting time/place based on the hourly forecast. This gives our customers the best conditions along with the best chances to catch fish based on the recent days trips. We can't wake up two hours before a trip to get the boat, rods, reels tackle ready, fuel the boat, purchase live bait, ice and head to a boat ramp hoping that the customer who didn't reply to our calls and text the day prior shows up the morning of his trip. Again we apologize for the inconvenience and our offer for a free trip stands.

Down here for spring break. Very chilly morning and Bill advised us yesterday to wear warm clothes. We did, but not enough layers. Regardless, he put us on fish. And when the bite slowed, he moved us to another of his spots. He seems very knowledgeable and very friendly. Also stopped in to his Lost Bay Tackle Shop the day before and he was helpful for surf fishing too.

Captain Doug took us out, knows his stuff, caught mackerels, red snappers, an amberjack, sharks and couple bait fish. Going to go back this week. Knowledgeable and made sure we got our money’s worth. Highly recommend.

Had a great time out fishing with Johnny from Lost Bay Guides! Our captain was fun and informative, we had a great time shark fishing even through the water was a little rough. We caught a ton of red snapper but had to release them due being out of season. We would 100% book again with Lost Bay and recommend them to anyone looking for a fun fishing trip!

The boat and equipment were nice and well taken care of. We had to catch bait, which used some of our fishing time, but we agreed to it and my wife and son had fun jigging for cigar minnows. We also had some close dolphin sightings as they like to steal the bait and my family really liked seeing them so that was a plus also. The only things that detracted from having a 100% great experience was coming back in 30 minutes early and running out of steel leaders on the trip. I had the same thing happen on a trip in Key West last year so I actually had a pack of steel in my pocket, but I really don’t feel it was my responsibility to “save the trip” by having extra leaders. You need leaders to catch Kingfish and that is about all that was in season so it was a necessary part of the equipment for that day. We were suppose to be back at the dock by 10:40 AM but were done cleaning fish and on our way back to the condo by 10:40. All in all the trip was good and we caught probably 10 decent size fish; 3 kings, 5 bonita, a red snapper, and a hardtail. If you go book a trip just make sure you time how long it takes to get to the fishing spot and make sure you dont head back earlier than necessary as each hour costs you about $100. This is my family’s second offshore trip (two different guide companies) and both times steel leaders seem to have been in short supply. If you have any knowledge of the type of fish you will be catching then you may want to tuck a pack of leaders in your pocket just in case.

My husband, son and I booked a charter while in the area for a long weekend. Bill was great and even let us know that the day we were going may not be good fishing due to the wind and conditions so we could cancel if we wanted to. We chose to go anyway because our son was so excited about fishing. We weren't able to catch any fish to keep but we enjoyed some catch and release and our son had a great time. We also saw dolphins and one of them even grabbed a fish on my sons line and took off with it!!! Wish I had video. Would definitely book with Bill again if ever in the area.
