An old hotel converted into a museum. Interesting collection of items. I started out disappointed on the lower level, but it gets better as you go upstairs. I enjoyed most the samplers and the buttons. A bit pricey at $10 per person, but a nice visit. more

Combine a visit to this museum with Flagler College which is right across the street and you've got half a day of culture for your visit. The Lightner used to be the Alcazar Hotel (also built by Flagler) and now houses an interesting collection of science artifacts, art glass, sculpture, paintings and furnishings. The architecture and history of the hotel... more

If you go, be sure to catch the demonstration of all of the music machines that are in the collection. It was the best part of the museum which houses loads of other interesting pieces...honorable mention to the shrunken head which was the most peculiar object we saw. The museum building is quite an exhibit all by itself too. more

As a disclaimer, we're not really into antiques... we were really hoping for more info about the old hotel itself, as the building itself is so impressive, but we were quite disappointed. What an odd collection of items to be put together in one place. Most intriguing to us were the mummy, shrunken head, lion, marbles and buttons... just to... more

We had done some research and this museum was high on our list of choices to visit during our four day vacation in St. Augustine. It did not disappoint. My husband, two college-aged boys and myself went through this huge and imposing collection of world treasures with our mouths dropped open. There is so much to see that it is... more

Spent TWO DAYS here! Just loved it! My friend and I visited and we are both 28 years old with a love of antiquing. This was definitely our favorite place to visit. Entrance fees were cheap, and I used my student ID for a discount, and they also take a few other discounts too. If you get the chance either... more

I loved learning about the history of this place as the old Alcazar Hotel, sister to the Ponce de Leon (now Flagler College, do the tour) across the street. The excellent restaurant is at the bottom of the old swimming pool, and my favorite thing was actually reading most of a Hotel history pamphlet over my wonderful lunch. Ask your... more

Although the staff was helpful and informative, this museum was not interesting to me nor the rest of my group. The most interesting thing we saw was the very large swimming pool area that is now a restaurant. Definitely not a place to take small children, no touching allowed. Seemed long and boring. Pricing was average though. more

All museums are just collections of artistic endeavors. This museum is one man's vision of what is beautiful in our world. I think anyone who takes the time to visit will be pleasantly surprised by Mr. Lightner's eye. There are spectacular collections of crystal, Tiffany glass and furniture. Do not miss the demonstration of the musical instruments, it is truly... more
