If you are not from Northern Florida then this is a very different place than you've probably seen before. The park consists of a series of long walking bridges from which you can peer into different enclosures that hold various animals (panthers, foxes, wolves, eagles, alligators, etc) native to the Florida landscape. I visited mid week and found all the attractions, that is those where staff are supposed to be on hand to explain/demonstrate were empty. Of course you could walk arround but I must say the animals I could see were in very poor condition and the farm cow was bordering on "animal cruelity". I really do think the Tallahasse Authorities... more

This museum is a gem, with boardwalks through wooded areas along a cypress-lined lake. You can see native Florida species, including the rare Florida panther and shy black bear, in a natural setting. Bring good walking shoes for your tour. Kids love this place! The cafe is sweet and a beautiful place to have lunch. more

Families with small children will love this mostly out-of-doors museum. The zoo trail winds through a forest/ wetland habitat full of native Florida wildlife. Other activities include an 1880's cracker farmstead, three historic florida buildings and an awesome playground! There is also a cafe on site, but you can bring in your own food to enjoy on picnic tables located... more
