My wife and I stopped here while traveling through Tampa on a weekday. It's a neat little place to go that was not busy, partly because of the heat nearing 100. We spent about 3.5 hours walking around and taking pictures and it seemed like enough for 2 adults. If you have kids, it will certainly take longer. There are... More

I was born in Tampa and have lived on the north end of town most of my life. As a boy, one of the places I enjoyed going to most often was Lowry Park. In the 1950s through the 1970s, Lowry Park consisted of Fairyland, Safety Village, the bandshell, and a picnic area with boat access to the Hillsborough River.... More

The zoo is rated as one of the top medium size zoos in the U.S., and rightfully so. The park is immaculate, easy to navigate, and animals are properly exhibited. Your poketbook gets a break from the local theme park rates, and the family has a great time.

rides for kids are included- small roller coaster, train ride, safari tour, carousel. Fed a giraffe and rhino, the camel and pony rides were cancelled for that day but there was still plenty do to. nice shade, and splash pads to cool off kids.

My seven year old loves this zoo. The zoo avoids looking "industrial" by seldom using cages instead using natural terrain to keep the animals from the visitors. A great deal if you buy an annual pass and go a number of times a year.

Full Disclosure - we only attended because my daughter is fascinated with Manatees and we had struck out at the Manatee Viewing Centre south of Tampa. I had located this Zoo as a 'Plan B" due to its Manatee Rescue Hospital. The facility was great! - Easy to locates and find - Decent Parking - easy to navigate park layout... More

Lowry Park is AMAZING! Very clean, fun to visit all afternoon long, for all age groups. I highly recommend this zoo! Don't forget to feed the giraffe's.

We have had annual passes for years. With passes you don't feel like you have to do an 8 hour day to get your monies worth. We like to stop in for a few hours on a Sunday afternoon. It's also a plus that the rides are now included with the passes.
