This is a great visit. Even if you can't take the 0.6 mile very steep tail, there is a shuttle up to the top. The visitor center up top is nice, but it's the views that make it. Try for a clear day, but it is beautiful no matter what.

It is definitely worth the trip to this mountain high point--but wait until a clear day--te views are gorgeous, except when clouds/fog roll in--then you really can't see much!
Great work out and you get a great view when you reach the top.
The new bathroom facilities are open and really nice, right at the parking lot before you begin your moderate hike. There is a box in the parking lot to deposit your $2.00 per person fee to enjoy the area. Even if the

Making the best of matters, since the shuttle to the observation tower was not operating, we hiked...

The hike is a hike, have to be in shape, also have a shuttle to the top for a fee. Welcome center is very interesting with neat exhibits. View is beatiful.
Don't let the .6-mile paved trail fool you. The hike from the parking lot to the observation tower takes some serious lung and leg power. Wear sturdy shoes and be prepared to get the heart pumping. The payoff is the panoramic view from the deck of the observation tower. Mountains upon mountains for miles and miles. There's a shuttle to...

We take everyone here that visits us. If they are young they walk to the top, if they are not we ride the shuttle. Cooler in the summer than anywhere else here, and stunning in Fall. Alexanders is close and often part of the trip too.
View was awesome. You can't go to the top in the winter time, so we didn't get the full effect.
