Expecting something else, something more "vanilla" perhaps, I visited with my twin boys during Smithsonian's Museum Day 2009. At first, it seemed to have less variety that other science museums we have visited. What a well done museum! We just went today with our 4 yr old twin girls and they had a blast. The exhibits are clear and the area around them is very open so that you do not feel crowded in.
