We went to the Chestatee Wildlife Preserve expecting something really awful after reading the reviews on this site. However, we were pleasantly suprised by the animals living conditions (I have seen other "zoos" that are much worse than this!!). All of the animals had plenty of food and water, and adequately sized cages. Considering that they're not for profit (the... more

I will admit the first time I went to Chestatee Preserve I was a little dismayed at the living conditions, but instead of complaining about it I decided to volunteer there a couple times and actually do something to help. It is non-profit and they do all they can to provide for the animals, but are running on limited staff... more

We have been to the Wildlife preserve several times also had my daughters 5th birthday party there...everytime was amazing...they are constantly making improvements and the fact that all of the animals there are rescued is something in it self...and although most of us do wish they had better shelters and pens...how many of you have made donations to help with... more

We went to this zoo on tues march 10. the animals were kept in little cages, the wolf was pacing back and forth in a 8 by 8 circle cage with two wolves inside. they were suppose to be 450 animals we saw approx 30 and repitles combined. The one bear had no water and was trying to get water... more

I have read the reviews by other people who have visited. I don't understand what they saw that was so awful! These are animals that have been rescued from what could have been an awful life for them. Granted, not all of them are out roaming free in the pastures BUT not all of them should be doing that! The... more

My husband, two young daughters and a sister-in-law and her husband visited the preserve during the week of July 28th. I was completely shocked by the treatment of the animals here. I should have taken photos so that I could send the photos to a humane organization, but all that occurred to me at the time was that this is... more

Do not be surprised if you leave the place with mixed emotions. There was a large assortment of animals - Lions, tigers, and bears (oh my! - sorry I had to do that), and elk.. However, it was sad to see the living conditions. Relatively small cages, with little shade for the animals. I would like to provide an update... more

I was amazed to see the many animals at the preserve. The animals appeared to be really loved and cared for. The staff was friendly, spent time explaining things, helpful and the owner was out there working himself. I just found the entire experience great. My special needs grandson was amazed by the tigers and would have spent as much... more

The saddest thing I have ever seen was the eyes of the white tiger living in a tiny cramped cage on concrete. These majestic animals are being treated like prisoner in a jail cell. Lions tigers bears you name it they are there. How awful it was to see these poor creatures at the zoo. To top it off the... more

Chestatee Wildlife Preserve is a wonderful place to visit for children of all ages. The owner and his staff are able to give you information about the animals there and personalize your walk around. You should ask questions rather than just quickly walking by the different cages. I had no idea how many different species they have and the animals... more
