Stayed for several hours. So much to see and learn. From the Southern USA, I knew next to nothing about Idaho's history - now I know plenty. The Plein-aire exhibit was gorgeous also. Nice staff at the desk too. Very friendly.

It is in the Julia Davis park so you can go anytime, but check the website for times. They have many events to join in and you can join the Idaho Historical society and go in for free, love the Brown bag series. Not expensive and children will enjoy also.
If you want to know about Idaho's past, this is the place to go. The last time I visited it there was no charge, but donations are accepted.
I have lived in Idaho my whole life and am kinda of a history buff. This museum had all kinds history that I had no idea had taken place in Idaho. Great spot to go on a rainy day.
Lot's of good stuff from Idaho's history there; a few of the halls/spaces are mis-mashes.
It pretty much looks the same but it is a nice museum about Idaho History.
Excellent museum, has so many aspects of Idaho's history, including a little village. Everybody loves to see the two-headed calf.
The main museum houses multiple historical related displays - including a few 'kid friendly' displays. There is also a collection of buildings outside but when I visited, only one building was open and I had to walk down a sidewalk filled with duck droppings to get to the open building (which was unheated).
I have been going here since moving here in 1993 and it has always been fun and interesting for me and my children and now grandchildren too!
I visited this museum on a recent vacation to Idaho. This had been my first visit to the State of Idaho and apart from appreciating their great potatoes I knew very little else about the State history.
