We stayed on Schweitzer for four days in July. The view down onto Lake Pend Oreille (pon - duh - ray) is spectacular. We rode the chairlift to the top of the mountain, where the lake view gets even better. We visited on a chilly Saturday in August -- staff was wonderful in assisting us to choose a great hike from their multitude of trails. We took the chairlift to the top ($10 each for 1 ride up and down) to do a short hike around the summit (views = spectacular!!) and then a long hike to back to the... more

I think this is a nice mountain but it was so foggy the whole time I was there it was hard to tell. One day was nice in the morning and we enjoyed some good runs before the rain came in. From what people tell me the season can be short, so January or early February is your best bet.... more
