I was traveling alone for one day. I decided to go here anyway. I had great night. Very good blues music and friendly and open people. There is a reason this place was celebrating their 44h birthday. Congratulations to Doc! (the owner and WW2 veteran)

We stayed at a friends condo north of Chicago and he recommended this place to us. At first when we walked in we were unsure as it is very bare bones and rustic. However, once the bands (they have two stages) started to play we were blown away! It is by far the best we have ever heard and the... More

Kingston Mines was a place that was recommended to us before we left home and we were not disappointed. We weren't thrilled about the $12 cover charge, but after a fabulous evening we realized it was well worth it. Both bands were awesome! Check it out for yourself.

We asked some locals about Blues Bars, and got recommend this as the best in Chicago. We were not let down. On a Saturday it gets very busy, which is great for optimal atmosphere, and despite the crowd we managed to get a seat. They have two alternating scenes, and saw two different bands. We also saw the owner of... More

Very casual atmosphere. Get there early if you want a seat. There are two rooms, with two bands - once the music starts, it doesn't stop! Food was a bit slow, but there was only one guy in the kitchen. My sandwich was ok, and the ribs smelled good. Cocktail waitress was very efficient for such a congested place!

Ater paying a reasonable $15 pp cover we entered a venue with 2 stages in different rooms with acts alternating between the stages. You can have a whole night (and early morning) of music for that $15.It has a friendly atmosphere, nice servers, good Southern style food.Obviously a lot of tourists but a lot of locals too. Looks like it... More

Pretty shabby place, sparse crowd on a Tuesday night. We ordered some food: gumbo soup was cold and really bad, grilled shrimps OK, though not too many, fried shrimps came from stale oil, fries greasy and with bad aftertaste. It was quite surprising that the bar does not carry any beer on tap AT ALL! Their "beer specials" are laughable... More

I absolutely love Kingston Mines. It's where my boyfriend took me for our first date and I've been in love ever since (oh, with him too!). Usually a $10+ cover charge, which is understandable since you are getting an ENTIRE nights worth of live music. The best advice I can give is get there early! If you want a seat... More

If you're looking at Chicago's latitude for some good old blues (Louisiana Style) , with a superb Cajun Cuisine , do not miss Kingston Mines . A pity its location is so far from downtown ... But in other way , perhaps such a joint would not fit perfectly , and would loose its genuity , if dis\located ... Don's... More

This place ended up being our favourite Blues Bar in Chicago. We ended up here both nights after many bars, until 5am. Fantastic. They have two stages that alternate with different bands and styles of Blues, more Rocky Blues with Joanna Conner and more old time Blues on the other stage. Great time and a great place. Small dance floors... More
