We always go to the WW2 event at the end of September. My 13 year old son looks forward to it. We try to attend other events throughout the year and always have a good time. If living in this area and plan to attended 2 or more events, buy a membership. It pays for itself usually after the first... More

A nice small indoor museum with some interesting local items and historical facts. The main reason to go is when the outdoor village is open and they have something going on. Then it is one of the best places for a family to be able to walk around and spend some time together in a great old time atmosphere. I... More

We visited the musuem specifially for the Sock Monkey exhibit. The kids had a good time. It took us maybe a hour to go through the entire musuem. We went in April and it may have been more fun in the summer or when events are going on.

It cost about $50 for a family of four and there was very little to do. The outside buildings were not yet open so maybe this review would have been different if we could have visited them, but the admission price should have been discounted to reflect this. The museum section had very little in the way that interests kids... More

PROS: Affordable admission fees. Different interesting events throughout the year. So far, my family and I have attended the World War II days, the Halloween event, the Chataqua event with Annie Oakley and Buffalo Bill. We have enjoyed every event with numerous buildings to explore, friendly and knowledgeable staff. The museum in the main building also explores Rockford's industrial age... More

This is more than a museum. It has a nice size 1800 town attached. We went to a mystery dinner at the old hotel one night and had a fantastic time. The play took you to many of the old shops. This gave you a feeling that you were part of the town and not just a tourist. What fun.... More

The museum features local treasures, like information on the origianl sock monkeys. The grounds are charming and are well-used for special events, such as the Scarecrow Festival, World War II Days, and more.

Our familty goes to Midway Village about four times per year. Our favourite events are the Fall events. At the scarecrow stuffing event, the buildings are opened up and demonstrations given for each of the occupations in the buildings. The property is clean, attractive and inviting.

We went there this weekend for the Scarecrow Harvest Festival and everyone had a nice time. The only negative was that not all of the buildings were open to visitors.
