Even if you can't join the crowd of 400,000 that comes each May to watch the celebrated Indy 500, stop by for a minibus ride on the speedway. Then visit the museum that traces race car history, including a display of restored speed demons, starting with the first Indy winner in 1911. « less

We went to this museum on the way home on a road trip and were really glad we came. The boys loved all the cars, took tons of pictures, and sat in the car that you can pose in. Neat collection of the old-time cars, too, amazing that top speeds at one time were around 75 miles per hour. The... more

This was such a great place, the museum is open 364 days a year (only closed on Christmas) and is inexpensive to enter only $3.00 for adults and then $3.00 to take the track lap which I highly reccomend! We spent the afternoon here and the entire family enjoyed it! Myself (mid 30's my husband late 30's, 15 y/o daughter... more

The museum was wonderful.. Lots of cars and historical information. There was even a car you climb in. Don't forget to do the track tour also. It was $3 per person and was a narrated bus tour around the track. The best part of the whole visit!!! more

On the Sunday before Memorial Day the Indianapolis 500 auto race takes place. The excitement and traditions of the weekend are like no other. There are parades, celebrity sightings, speed, skill and heart pounding excitement. Great family entertainment. A good time for all. more

I am not a racing fan, but the speedway is one of those places on my bucket list. Its a 10 min drive from downtown, and very cool entrance (under the stands straight to the middle of the track). We only paid the $3 pp to ride around the track once, which was cool to see. We did not see... more

I must start by saying we are NOT race car fans! However, it was a thrill to drive under the actual race track to find yourself in the middle of the track. The cars were cool.....we didn't do the ''tour" around the track. We were there maybe 45mins.... more

I like the Indy museum and track. The museum has a lot of old race cars, and old non-racing cars. You can sit in an Indy car (with the gauges and pedals removed). However, even if you look at every single thing in the museum, it will only take you a couple hours tops, including the track tour. The museum... more

the displays were wonderful. The grounds tour was well worth the money, got to see places you are not normally allowed to go during race days. also got to go on the track and take pictures on the bricks which is awesome. Got to enjoy all the features of the museum along with the photo store on the second floor.... more

For such a seminal place in racing history this museum is quite average. A good number of cars are displayed, these however are a lttle too close together to view easily. There is also a lack of some basic nformation on most displays. The track tour was also not available on the day of our visit. The entrance fee was... more

Disclaimer: I'm not a racing fan at all !! I took the 90-minute grounds tour. I felt they spent a little too much time in the press area and not enough time talking about the cars and things like how fast they go, how they are serviced, etc. The highlight was clearly drivign around the track on the tour bus... more
