The Museum was closed when were there, but the building is beautiful and it was a nice walk out to the pier lighthouse. Very nice beach there as well! A must stop if you're in Michigan City.

Loved the history of this place. Love lighthouses so it was fun to visit and to even get to climbed the spiral staircase up to where the beacon once shone!

This museum is housed in the old light keeper’s house in Michigan City in the Washington Park area. This is the museum for the Michigan City Historical Society, so there is more history here than just that of the lighthouse. My mom knows one of the volunteers, so we got a personal tour which was a nice touch.

If you enjoy lighthouses, history, ship models and shipwreck exhibits then you'll enjoy the Old Lighthouse Museum. The museum has many displays of interest but the highlight is climbing up into the tower/lantern room and enjoying the beautiful view and wonderful picture-taking opportunity.
