Mason City is a fun town with an interesting history. Meredith Wilson - the Music Man - was from Mason City and you can visit his boyhood home and spend time at Music Man Square. We caught a band at Laredos Bar in downtown Mason City - The Further Adjustments - much fun on a beautiful summer evening.

This place is amazing! So unexpected in North Iowa. This 40,000 square foot facility showcases the ever-popular musical 'The Music Man' with an indoor streetscape and the Meredith Willson Museum and the Willson family home. Enjoyed the museum and all the 'River City' town 'businesses' and the gift shop - great gifts for the musically-inclined, as small as a dollar or two for a magnet, for example.

I stopped by the Music Man Square to see what it was all about. For $6 admission, I got to tour an indoor mock-up of the street that was in the famous movie, I also got to tour a Music Man musuem with all sorts of interesting exhibits about the movie including a 'behind the scenes' film hosted by Shirley...
