Farmer's Market on Thursday evenings, a nice laid back atmosphere, and easy to walk about. A little too much "gallery" for my taste (if you buy something in a "shop" it costs $10, but if you buy the same thing in a "gallery" it costs $50) - but overall a really nice stop.

I llive within walking distance of the historic Valley Junction business district. It has a little bit of everything. On Thursday nights, in the summer, there is the farmer's market and concert series. Whether you like to shop, or just window shop and sit and watch people pass by, this is a great place to do it.

The underground railroad here in Des Moines? Antiques, beading stores, quilt store, beading shops, knitting, etc. Nice two-four block area to walk in and shop. Great girls day out.

If you like people who like themselves then this place is for you.

Plan to spend plenty of time here. Loads of antique stores, but there are several unique and interesting shops throughout this small but treasure-packed street. I especially loved Mhuka Designs Home & Art Gallery with beautifully handcrafted African decor. Back in the day, Valley Junction was known for it's fine antique stores. While there are still at least two antique stores worth visiting, it has turned over to more trendy gift stores now. However, it is still a fun place to enjoy an afternoon and a meal. You can enjoy coffee, cookies and treats, and choose from several restaurants.... More

It was okay if you like high priced antiques and food, not a lot of parking, to many cars and not enough room. It is however pretty.

We love Valley Junction for just the looking!! Fun shopping, and quaint places to eat especially for pizza.

While a bit inconsistent, Valley Junction is still a good place to take out of town visitors for a stroll in and out of shops and get a bite to eat.
