During race season you need to include a stop at Ellis Park (used to be called Dade Park). It is located just across the Ohio River bridge on your way to Evansville. I go to Ellis at least 4 or 5 times during the summer. Easy place to sit back and relax.

They have had their financial issues in these hard times, but what a good way to spend an afternoon. It's family friendly meaning there are grassy areas with picnic tables if you have children, a variety of foods (from unhealthy hot dogs to a nice restaurant). We are always glad we went, even though we hardly ever win!

Ellis Race Track is one of the best. The staff is extremely helpful, the facilities are clean and very family friendly. Try going on Sunday when they have "Dollar Day". Great place to see the best in horse racing.

Ellis Park is the best track in Kentucky, and I have been to them all! Excellent entertainment with or without children. The Henderson/Evansville area has lots of restaurant and hotel options for out of towners! A great place for a weekend of fun!
