The massive five story hospital was built in 1926 and sits atop Waverly Hill today. It housed 400 patients and was one of the largest facilities of its kind. Waverly served the community through decades of the worse TB outbreak in the country. After closing in 1961, due to the introduction of life saving antibiotics, the hospital reopened in 1962 as "Woodhaven Geriatric Center" which operated the facility until 1982 when it was closed by the state. Ravaged by years of neglect, the present owners have breathed new life into the building by conducting tours though the facility in effort to restore it to a useful asset for the community once again. Waverly has earned her place as one of the most haunted places in the country and has been host to many films and TV shows. During tour season (March – August) Waverly offers several options of visiting. *2hr. Introductory Paranormal Tour which includes a 20 film then a walk through the building.*2hr. Historical walk through tour held one Sunday each month*Public or Private overnight sessions for ghost hunting enthusiasts. For all tour or overnight reservations or inquiries contact the office open daily 9am to 5pm Monday - Friday. « less

I was not expecting too much after reading most of the reviews on here, but the tour was fantastic! First of all, there was no video at all. The tour filled the 2 hour slot. Our guide, Shirlene, was phenomenal. Her grandparents and parents worked at the Sanitorium. She was born there and still lives on the premises. The history... More

I come here every year but have never done a review on it. This place is very active, my friends always think its funny to sneak away and leave me by myself in a dark room... nice. Sometimes I wonder how i get myself into these things. I would recomend the 8hr overnight if you are looking to get the... More

This place is extremely active with ghosts! A MUST do for any history buff or ghost hunter. We were never able to get a shot of the front of building in the light however.... they would not let us up during light hours even though we had an overnite ticket.

I've been on ghost hunting overnights here at least 5 times now. Each and every time we have all had experiences here. from Shadows flying at you and through walls, to shadow people walking, even being physically pushed in certain places. We go back every year!

A surface road south of Dixie Hwy. in Shively ...in back of a golf course, then a steep lane past a gate. WOW. Worth finding. What an ominous first view. Lots of stories about spooky things and the paranormal possibilities. Set up in areas for a convincing haunted house during Oct. Our guide lived closeby as a child and knew... More

My adult children love going here at Halloween time. An old Sanatorium that was really used many, many years ago. Now a haunted house attraction

We took the 2-hour, 10 p.m. tour of Waverly Hills in April 2012. This was the first "ghost tour" I had ever been on, and since I am a big chicken, I was scared to death and had no idea what to expect. The building is undeniably creepy but I needn't have been scared, as nobody in our group saw... More

This is a great building. I wouldn't waste money on the 2-hour tours, because you can read most of that stuff online. I would strongly recommend the 4-hour overnight. And if you can tag along with an investigative team that has equipment, the 8-hour overnight is more exciting. Once the sun comes up, you won't feel like hunting anymore, but... More

We went to waverly hills with family and friends for the 2 hour tour on Friday the 13th.They dont do the video presentation anymore. Our tour guide was Nancy. This place is a expensive JOKE!!! She took us down the DEATH TUNNEL which is simply stairs leading to a locked gate. Nothing more!! We walked around the different floors in... More
